SFA Community Club Award 2015/16

Blantyre Soccer Academy have once again received a coveted award from the SFA in winning the Community Club of the Year 2015/16 which shall be presented to them on the 22nd of September 2016 at Hampden Park.

The Academy have already won several SFA awards with Chairman Jimmy Whelan picking up the SFA Community Champion Award in 2012/13 and Dougie Borland receiving the SFA Disability Coach of the year in 2013/14. These awards are a true credit to the club and recognition for all the hard work the volunteers and staff put into running the Academy and catapulting it on its fantastic journey in so short of a timescale. The club has also been accredited with the highest award the SFA can bestow on a club by becoming a LEGACY Quality Mark Club in 2014.

Chairman “ Receiving this award gives recognition of all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes at the Academy by our dedicated group of volunteer coaches and staff. It shows the parameters we work within to ensure very high standards are set for every aspect of what we do such as coaching quality, community engagement, facilities, getting the balance between fun, learning and winning, child protection, personal development and social cohesion. “We are more than a Soccer Academy, we are an institution within the community.”

This award gives our wider partners confidence within us as it shows how much dedication and determination there is within the Academy to succeed in everything we do. This is such a fantastic achievement for our club in such a short time and just another significant step forward in fulfilling our ambitions for the future and continue in our full player pathway programme.
